Our Mission

Epochly exists to tell the stories that matter but rarely get told — the deep history, the forgotten civilisations, the technology shifts that are reshaping daily life. We write for curious, intelligent readers who want more than a surface-level take. Every article we publish is held to the standard of being genuinely worth your time.

Research Standards

Every Epochly article begins with primary and secondary source research. For history articles, we draw on academic historians, peer-reviewed research, and reputable reference works. For technology articles, we draw on primary reporting, peer-reviewed studies, official documentation, and direct expert sources wherever possible.

We do not publish claims we cannot verify. Where a fact is contested or uncertain among experts, we say so. Where the historical record is incomplete, we say so. We do not flatten complexity for the sake of a cleaner narrative.

Writing Standards

Epochly articles are written to inform, not to generate clicks. We do not use misleading headlines, manufactured outrage, or deliberately provocative framing designed to spread rather than illuminate. Our headlines describe what the article actually contains.

We write in plain, direct English. We avoid jargon where plain language serves better. We aim for the reading level of an educated adult who has no prior specialist knowledge of the subject — but we do not condescend or oversimplify.

Independence

Epochly's editorial decisions are made independently of commercial considerations. Advertisers, sponsors, and affiliate partners have no influence over which topics we cover, how we cover them, or what conclusions we reach. Our Recommended Reading sections contain affiliate links to Amazon — this is disclosed on every article — but the books we recommend are chosen on editorial merit, not because of commercial arrangements with publishers or authors.

Corrections Policy

We take accuracy seriously. If we make a factual error, we correct it. Corrections are noted at the top of the relevant article with a brief explanation of what was corrected and when. We do not silently edit articles to remove errors without acknowledgment.

If you believe an article contains a factual error, please contact us. We will review the claim, consult the relevant sources, and correct the article if the evidence supports doing so.

Use of AI

Epochly uses AI tools as part of its research and writing process. AI assists with drafting, structural organisation, and research summarisation. All content is reviewed, edited, and verified by human editorial staff before publication. AI-generated claims are fact-checked against primary sources. We do not publish AI output without human review and editorial judgment.

Affiliate Links

Some Epochly articles contain affiliate links to Amazon through the Amazon Associates programme. When you purchase a book through one of these links, Epochly receives a small commission at no additional cost to you. These commissions help fund the publication and keep our content free. Affiliate relationships have no influence on our editorial recommendations.

Images and Media

Epochly uses images from Wikimedia Commons under Creative Commons licences. Image credits and licence information are provided in the caption of every image we publish. We do not use images without verifying their licence status.
